Lionsgate has announced that Kevin hart is all set to be a part of the Borderlands movie as the skilled soldier Roland.
He will be working opposite to Cate Blanchett as the legendary thief Lilith.
Kevin Hart is best known for his comic roles. His most notable role being the two Jumanji sequels. He will play a much more dramatic role in borderlands.
Eli Roth is all set to be the director of the movie and the screenplay comes from Emmy-winner Craig Mazin.
Craig Mazin won the Emmy for the show Chernobyl.
Roth in a statement said: “I’m thrilled to be working with Kevin. Borderlands is a different kind of role for him, and we are excited to thrill audiences with a side of Kevin they’ve never seen before. He’s going to be an amazing Roland. Kevin has been behind some of the world’s biggest blockbusters, and our source material is inspired by one of the world’s best-selling video games,” Lionsgate Motion Picture Group president Nathan Kahane added. “We love the way our filmmaking team has adapted this story, and we couldn’t be in better creative hands.”
Avi Arad and Ari Arad for Arad Productions and Erik Feig for Picturestart will be producing this movie.
The game Borderlands was launched back in 2009 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Since then, three more games have been released in the borderlands series. Borderlands 2, which came out in 2012, Borderlands: the Pre-sequel which came out in 2014 and the final 2019’s Borderlands 3. Together 66 million copies of these games have been sold.
Borderlands the movie was supposed to begin filming last year, but due to COVID-19, The plan was delayed.
The release date of the Borderlands Movie is still unknown.
